EMBRACES INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY AS A WAY OF GIVING HIM MORE QUALITY TIME WITH CLIENTS
Paul enjoys working with clients in all facets of their business and has experience in many fields, in particular investment, property, tax planning for high net worth individuals, sports, and importing sectors, both locally and offshore. He specialises in trusts; strategy; structuring and development; mergers and acquisitions; cashflow forecasting and budgeting; business and estate planning; franchising; and taxation advice and efficiencies.
After 32 years at Grant Thornton, Paul has left to build a lean, mean business with a small number of top end staff to focus on high-quality customer service.
“I’m taking every opportunity to get the latest systems, so our senior team will get more client facing time. Accounting is changing, and it’s vital to keep up with the game – software is more sophisticated these days, and it allows our clients to be so much more productive and up to date. We are able to assist much more proactively with adding value and growing our clients’ businesses.”

Some say it takes 10,000 hours to truly master something. Well, Ian has been practising for over 25 years, most of it with Mabee Halstead & Kiddle, and proudly loves helping businesses succeed for the benefit of the owners – often financially, also to suit changing life situations such as to fit with family involvements, semi-retirement, work/life balance.
A veteran of multiple successful start-ups, many in the ICT world, and currently involved in a number of businesses, Ian will take an active interest in the establishment and growth of your business.
Ian is a specialist in business structuring; as a Fellow of the NZTA he loves Trusts; and especially loves minimising tax (legally of course) by understanding both the small & big picture. Having sold his own company to an Australian public company, he is the right man to help you with your succession planning.
As a husband and father of three, Justice of the Peace, and trustee or treasurer for various groups, Ian is very active in the community.
Aaron joined Greenlion after 22 years at Mabee Halstead & Kiddle after obtaining a National Certificate in Business Studies in 1994 and a National Diploma in Accountancy at Manukau Institute of Technology in 1997. Aaron was then accepted into the College of Chartered Accountants in 2002.
Aaron is an excellent general accountant who specialises in tax compliance and advice, and other small business management services. He has been Xero certified since 2012 so is also an expert in financial systems.
Ash is an Associate in Greenlion’s business advisory team, where he is responsible for helping clients achieve their goals. Ash has extensive accounting and advisory experience in numerous areas including margin analysis, customer and company profitability, cash crisis management, NZIFRS reporting, business structuring and cashflow forecasting. He also has considerable experience as a virtual CFO for clients. Ash is always looking to add value to his clients while assuming a “what would I do if this was my business?” mentality.
Ash sees future accountants as business advisors rather than number crunchers. As a result, he is focused on building valuable relationships with clients; working alongside business owners and adding value through his experience in broader business issues. Ash’s wealth of knowledge gives him the skills needed to enable his clients to reach their business goals, whether that be a better work/life balance or rapid growth and profitability.
Ash is a Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelor of Business and Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting.
In his spare time, he enjoys rugby, cricket, and spending time with his young family.
After starting her career and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant at a mid-tier firm, Nikita’s love of skiing took her to the Rocky Mountains in Canada. She realized that the Canadian summers are equally as beautiful and adventurous as the winters and ended up staying longer than initially intended having six years in Fernie, British Columbia. While living in Fernie Nikita worked as the General Manager and Finance Manager of a group of companies which included Property Management, Property Development and Owner Associations. Nikita was an active member of the local Chamber of Commerce working alongside various local businesses to further develop the local business community and community alike, working particularly closely with the local Tourism association and Ski Hill.
Since moving back to New Zealand, Nikita worked in the Tourism industry, for an accommodation provider and an inbound tour operator, before landing with us at Greenlion. She has loved seeing how technology has changed the Accounting Industry to streamline processes and enable access anywhere. Nikita enjoys being able to interpret the numbers for clients; de-coding them into a language clients can understand and helping clients develop and hone the strategy of their business to help them achieve their goals.
In her spare time, Nikita loves spending time at the beach, skiing, traveling, and relaxing with family & friends.
Alisha graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Commercial Law. She started off her career in the banking sector and very early on realised that wasn’t the path for her. Alisha then joined a mid-tier accounting firm as a business advisor and qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
To Alisha, being an accountant is more than completing a client’s annual accounts and tax return year in year out. It’s about being a trusted advisor, someone who clients feel comfortable coming to with any problems and issues their business may be facing. As part of being a trusted advisor involves, being able to identify areas of concern in a business early on to help mitigate the issue and understanding the client’s business and give advice on areas of improvement. Having the ability to explain and simplify accounting jargon and numbers in a way that makes sense to clients and can understand what their financials are saying. Being able to work alongside businesses to help them achieve their goals through cashflow forecasting, budgeting and monthly KPI reporting to determine if the goals are realistic within their desired timeframe.
Outside of work, Alisha enjoys baking and cooking and exploring new flavours and recipes. Alisha also enjoys going on holiday’s and travelling to new places and experiencing new cultures.
Megan Muir joined Greenlion in mid-2017 as practice manager, after honing her experience as an office manager at a busy Auckland dental practice.
New to the accounting field, Megan enjoys numbers and learning about new software and systems. She likes to find ways to streamline operations, tidy up spaces – both physical and digital – and put new strategies in place to improve efficiency.
As a born and bred Aucklander, she’s something of a rarity in the Greenlion office. Megan says she “wouldn’t have joined just any accountancy firm, but the team at Greenlion is not your typical accountants.”
Outside work, Megan enjoys cooking, paddle boarding, snowboarding and camping at the Kai Iwi Lakes with her husband.
Greenlion are not your typical accountants.
